It's the first week of the Living Between Wednesdays summer book club! This week Rachelle and Dave are revisiting the classic DC Elseworlds tale, Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. It's twenty years old this year! It's the comic that inspired Jay-Z to return to hip hop, at least as far as Rachelle is concerned.
Before that they talk about the sudden and tragic death of actor Anton Yelchin. As well they discuss the latest Spider-Man: Homecoming casting announcements, the reports from the Justice League movie set visit, and Rachelle's woes over the Spider-Man event in the Avengers Academy game. In the This Week in Winter Soldier segment, Rachelle is very excited about the Captain America gay porn parody.

Dave is back from L.A. and he's got big news! Rachelle has nothing of note to announce! They both discuss all the DC Rebirth titles, as well as the latest comic book news. This week also sees the return of the very important This Week in Winter Soldier segment!
In the second half, Dave and Rachelle share their own 'secret origin' stories, or how they got into reading comics and loving super heroes. AND they announce this line-up for their summer book club, which starts next week! Read along all summer!

Rachelle is joined via Skype this week by Rebecca, a long-time comic book fan in England, and Jacqui, a newer comic fan by way of the Marvel movies in Philadelphia. Many, many things are discussed, including inclusion in comics and in Marvel casting, fanfic preferences, Bucky, meeting celebrities, the Winter Soldier, Tumblr, Sebastian Stan, meeting people through online fandoms, and James Buchanan Barnes.
Also in this episode, it's the return of Rachelle's son Mitchell, who shares some thoughts on the new all-ages book, Brobots, by J. Torres and Sean Dove!
Dave is on vacation! Rachelle is joined by Strange Adventures comic shops owner, Cal Johnston, who is an all-around super guy. They discuss some of the more controversial comic books and comic book arcs from the last few decades, including Superior Spider-Man, Death of Superman, Identity Crisis, The Killing Joke, One More Day, and the Death of Captain America. Before that they talk about the possible casting of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, and a whole lot about fan entitlement.
